Hi from Ddraig Arian

This is my first post in fortysomething and so I think I should introduce myself!

I am 47 and have been a single mum for ten years by choice. I didn't like being married so decided to bring my two kids up alone. They are now 21 and 18. When I was 40 I got a degree in Chemistry then worked in the chemical industry for a while, followed by a couple of years in Chemistry/Science teaching, now working in admin and soon hopefully to move on yet again. I was born and grew up in Wales so this makes me a Celt by birth and nature!

To get a better idea of me and my thoughts etc take a look at my own journal and user info. I always think I am shy as I was very shy as a child but no one else agrees with this as I am very, very talkative in real life and on the internet too!

I will try and post a more news orientated post later as I have to go into town for a while!

Welcome! I'm 45, my wife is 43 and we have three kids (19, 16 and 14). My undergraduate degree is in chemistry, too (with a minor in maths)! My graduate degree is in computer science. I was born in New York City, but live in northern New Jersey (not very far, but I've never lived that far from here).

Welcome to fortysomething!
Seem to be quite a few Chemistry people here. Hi from another one! I saw the light/fell to the dark side, depending on your perspective and am a physician in private practice in Amarillo TX these days.

Welcome.
I have a very good friend that originally came from Wales. He now lives in Phoenix Arizona, but misses home very much.
I'm about to turn 50. I do hope they allow me to stay. :)

Welcome! I just checked out your user page and your journal and I added you as a friend (hope you don't mind...if so, just say that and I'll unfriend you).

I'm 47, married, no children, and live in Buffalo, NY. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Croeso y LiveJournal! I live in Wales, near Merthyr Tydfil. I've lived here for nearly 12 years and came from the north east of England. But I think of myself as naturalised Welsh now. A Celt/Viking. I'd like to add you to my flist, if I may. Please do add me. I'm 44, married to a Brummie with a 19-year-old daughter who is a student at Aberystwtyh uni.

Hi Serennau! I have added you to my list and you are very welcome to add me to your list too!

Next weekend I am returning to Wrexham to visit my sister. I was born and grew up in Rhostyllen near Wrexham in North Wales. I would love to return to Wales to live but my teenagers have only just completed school so I stayed here in Lincolnshire, England whilst they completed their secondary education.

I always go for a drive around the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen every time I visit my sister. I was in your part of Wales about 5 weeks ago when I visited a friend who lives near Cardigan. One afternoon I went to Machynlleth and visited Celtica which I thought was wonderful! I also visited Aberaeron but did not have time to vist Aberystwyth this time whilst I visited my friend.

Welcome! I spent one afternoon in Wales when I visited the UK in 1989. But obviously there's more to Wales than Tintern Abbey and Chepstow Castle. Hope to go back again someday!

Hello from Seattle and also 47

Welcome to the best darn LJ Community, Period
(if I do not use that greeting people think there is something wrong with me. LOL).

It truly is a great community...we have a lounge, hot-tub and the greatest staff to run those anywhere.
If you need anything, just holler. :)
